Most outer metal components of the electronic products need decorative plating. The main plating materials of which were once decorative chromium and gilding, and gradually developed into several kinds of decorative alloys, such as semi-bright copper, nickel, chromium and gun metal. In 1970s and 1980s, plastic plating was widely used in China, because people mainly plated the outer parts of electronic products with plastic plating technology, which is related to the technologies of non-metallic surface metallization and electroless plating. The plastic plating technology actually helps promote the development and research of plastic materials capable for plating and the technologies related to plastic plating.
