1.   The main composition of chromium plating electrolyte is the chromic acid which has strong oxidizability, but not the metal chromium salt.

 

2.   Because of the low current efficiency, which generally is 13~16% and the highest efficiency can only reach about 23%, plenty of hydrogen will separate out with poisonous spray. In this case, good air suction device and chromium fog inhibitor will be needed. Our HN-701 chromium fog inhibitor has good effect on suppression of chromium fog and can reduce environmental pollution.



3.   A small amount of additional anion such as SO42-, F-, SiF62-, must be added into the solution and the trivalent chromium in solution must also be kept on a certain quantity.

 

4.   Because of low throwing power, for the parts which have complicated shapes, conformal anode and cathodic protection must be adopted to get good coating.

 



5.   The required current density is very high, sometimes is dozens of times higher than that of the normal plating process. The voltage of tank is also relatively high during chromium plating process, it usually reaches to 12V or higher, comparatively, others just require 6V.

 

6.   The temperature and current density are controlled strictly. When remaining the current density unchanged, the temperature can only be changed range from 1 to2℃; when keeping temperature unchanged, the current density just can be altered range from 2 to3A/d㎡.



 

7.   The anode of chromium plating is not chromium metal, but insoluble anode such as lead, lead-tin alloy or lead-antimony alloy.

 

8.   Because of the easy passivation of chromium layer, power outage during the plating process is not allowed normally.

4.   HN-701 Chromium fog inhibitor:

It is a chromium fog inhibitor specially designed for chromium plating. Adding it into tank, it is not only can eliminate the environmental pollution coming from chromium fog, reduce the maintenance costs of exhaust equipment and the dosage of chromic acid, but also can decrease the microcrack degree, improve the chromium layer hardness and promote adhesion.
